Sky Shadows and Roadrunners

As orange

Fades to blue

Sky shadows

My mind imbue

Subtle Sun

Fingers

Linger

And

Reach

Each

To beseech

A message

Of Hope

Where nary

A cloud

Can be seen

Yet

Anti-crepuscular rays

Slope…

What mist

Of mystery

Creates

Such a sight?

Where mountain

Peaks

Sneak

Shadows

Without

Light?

Light leaking

Against

A blue backdrop

Atop

A horizon

Heralding

Rapture

And me

Driving

Conniving

A photo

I cannot

Capture

Except

In the confines

Of my heart

And mind

And I unable

To describe

This ineffable

Experience

Undefined.

🌅

Along

The rocky

Trail

Thoughts

Flow

Like footfalls

Finding

A course

Trailing off

From the moment…

Oh how my

Labored

Breath

Reveals

The consequences

Of my decision

Running

Along

The path

Carved

Into Earth

With precision…

Will I see

A snake—

A serpent

Rattling

It’s intention

To strike

My ankle

For intruding

On its land?

Did I wait

Too long

To take

This trek

Will my water

Outlast

The heat?

Am I strong?

Thoughts

Pounding

The Earth

Like my laced

Up feet

Are interrupted

And whom

Should I meet?

A roadrunner

Not nearly

A meter away

Crosses my path

(Or I hers)

And stops me

In my tracks…

I see she

And she sees me

Eyeing each

Other through

Orange

And blue…

Upon

Her head

A crest

Raises

As

My mind

And chest

She imbues.

As her mohawk

Fades

And my phone

I cannot find

Only a moment

Do I see

The Divine—-

Of this creature

A photo

I cannot

Capture

Except

In the confines

Of my heart

And mind

And I unable

To describe

This ineffable

Experience

Undefined…

Like the bird

Before me

I am

The Californian

Earth cuckoo

Running

Through life

In ways

Like

Anti-crepuscular rays

Pausing

On the path

To take

A sun bath

Imbued

By

Orange

And

Blue…

Do you see the orange and blue?
